Abandoned Estate, Stirlingshire, Scotland
Well this post has turned out to be slightly picture heavy. I had driven past this place a few times and finally managed to get back to explore - and boy was it worth it. Just an incredibly beautiful estate. So many buildings. So much intricate stone work. There was even one building that totally creeped me out which doesn't happen to me often - I am fearless usually, but won't go into that here!
I knew it was going to be good when we walked up through this gorgeous barn...
...and then caught a glimpse of one some towers and what was in store...
..and so for a stomp around some beautiful abandoned decay...
love the colours of this old wallpaper...
how beautiful is this stone work - there were little details like this everywhere you turned...
love the green paint on this old door in the tower...
.someone's initials perhaps?
the tower is the stuff of gothic fairy-tales...
and onto some of the old living accommodation...
the colours in the floor tiles were beautiful...
love it when I spot signs like this one - always an invitation in my mind!
A wee "modern" touch for good measure...
and in amongst all the decay a proper authentic Scottish Thistle, just how you would draw it!
finally a wander down to the old gatehouse...
I'm thinking this may be beyond repair...
Some extra pictures from around and about the place...
What a brilliant place to visit and an amazing find! Looking forward to visiting again in the snow!
