The Road to Skye Day 2 Part 4
We started seeing signs for Eilean Donan Castle along the way and got pretty excited - this castle has been on my "Must See" list for a while - all the photographs I've seen were pretty impressive - unfortunately things didn't go quite to plan. We hit a traffic jam...in the Highlands. I have been visiting the Highlands and Wester Ross my whole life and usually traffic jams are caused by sheep in the road. This one was the queue of cars trying to get into the car park of the Castle - queued right back along the main road - so we had to abandon our visit.
Fortunately for us we found a wee car park looking over the water to the Castle with a gorgeous wee café too...this was a lot of people's plan B and was also really busy but we persevered and at least got a few pictures!

Not exactly the exploration of the Castle or the pictures I was after but I will just have to suck it up this time!! Definitely still on the list for another proper visit though when it's not quite so busy and we can get parked!
We had a wee wander down the road and took some pictures of the village at the other side of the water...
It's almost like a little Tobermory! Will definitely investigate this gorgeous little place further on our return.
The silver-lining to this little "non-visit" was the discovery of the lovely little All the Goodness Coffee & Bakeshop - made me smile just from the outside before I'd even set foot into the place!
And look what I was greeted with when I walked in - if ever there was an indication that a place was going to be right up my street a book swap right inside the front door is it!!!
And how cool a use of space is this...I love their story on the door.
The quirky "writing on the wall" continues right through - and I love the simple colour scheme
The warm welcome even continues as you leave...
I will definitely be back...I would say this is an absolute must stop on your adventure...make the time and I guarantee this lovely little shop will make you smile.
Back on the road for us again - who knows we might even make it to Skye today!
