The Road to Skye Day 2 Part 4
We started seeing signs for Eilean Donan Castle along the way and got pretty excited - this castle has been on my "Must See" list for a while - all the photographs I've seen were pretty impressive - unfortunately things didn't go quite to plan. We hit a traffic jam...in the Highlands. I have been visiting the Highlands and Wester Ross my whole life and usually traffic jams are caused by sheep in the road. This one was the queue of cars trying to get into the car park of the Castle - queued right back along the main road - so we had to abandon our visit. Fortunately for us we found a wee car park looking over the water to the Castle with a gorgeous wee café too...this was a lot of people's plan B and was also really busy but we persevered and at least got a few pictures! Not exactly the exploration of the Castle or the pictures I was after but I will just have to suck it up this time!! Definitely still on the list for another prop...
