What I Learned - Flat Broke with Two Goats by Jennifer McGaha
This brilliant and unique memoir left me feeling all warm and fuzzy and like this author and I would be friends!
This book has the added bonus of being packed with mouth-wateringly rustic recipes, as well as a detailed description of how to make goats milk soap using a Crock-Pot of all things!
What I Learned:
This is the moment I knew I loved this woman. Stubborn. Independent. Fiery. All sounding a little bit too familiar to me! This is always the best idea, a plan that doesn't involve anyone else so it's all on you - whatever the outcome, good or bad!
I love this idea. It's almost about that sense of "belonging" somewhere I guess. I always feel like who I am gets more rooted and like the "real me" when I'm by the sea.
Again, how I feel about moving to live by the sea. The dream would be an old cottage with a bit of garden for chickens and a remote, middle of nowhere, windswept sea view.
This is brilliant - I can relate. None of those p's are usually associated with me either...my p's are more like "permanently pooped pigeon"!!!
At the end of the day that is all there really is to do. Just keep going and hoping for the best.
Yep...it's always that curve ball that you don't see coming that gets you! Every single time!
These people are precious. The ones who remind you who you are and that it's okay just to be you, it's enough. You are everything you need to be.
I love this from the author as this is everything I felt about her after reading this gorgeous book. Emotionally brave and honest and just a thoroughly amazing, inspiring woman.
My Goodreads Review:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A brilliant, heart-warming, gut-wrenchingly honest memoir about living a life unexpected and making the best of every second - and bringing some extra passengers along for the ride.
I defy you not to love this book, and want some temperamental goats of your own by the end!
Just brilliant!
