What I Learned - Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
One of the most incredible books I have read for a long time - a must read for any age.
What I Learned:
This could be one of the best compliments any one could receive, however let me let you into a secret..I think the one's who appear like this could be the one's who are faking it the most.
just a beautiful telephone conversation.
so relatable - especially during those teen years, but still sometimes all these years late, even as an alleged "grown up"
One of the greatest feelings in the world, and generally a symptom of that teenage first love. It is possible to miss someone when they are right there because you just can't get enough of them. (I think as we get older though it is sad to say we often miss people more when they are right there for other reasons - even though someone is physically there when you've been "there" for a long time sometimes you just stop to be emotionally "there" for the other person. We let distraction take over. Things like mobile phones and social media can just take over.)
I just love everything about this statement. I know I have a habit of thinking things are going to end badly right from the beginning of anything and it's an awful bad habit! I didn't used to be such a pessimist!
Again, just utter perfection. (how great would this be for on a card to give to your significant other the night before your wedding, or when someone is off on a trip)
Heart breaking. Plus there's that word. Always. Thanks to JK Rowling that word gets me every single time.
Just beautiful
I don't think I have ever read a book that so completely and utterly encapsulates all those feelings associated with first love.
My Goodreads Review:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 stars is not enough for this book - I would give it a hundred stars if I could.
This book is one of the rare finds that you never, ever want to end. And then it does. And you just feel, well, empty I suppose. Like you've lost something that you will never get back. Which, given the book, and once you have read it, you will wonder if you feel by design.
This book is as close to perfection as it comes.
And now it's finished.
And I'm just empty.
And I would read it again immediately but you just know you won't recapture the specialness of the first read.
So I will just have to get copies for everyone I know and live vicariously through them.
