What I Learned - Coldmaker by Daniel A Cohen
What would happen if you lived in a land where you were a slave to the cold?
What I Learned:
...in other words, there is a reason you walked away, try not to forget.
...in relationship terms you could talk about this as giving someone time to miss and appreciate you.
...not ever!
I feel like this about my amazing daughter ever single day, I just wish she could see herself through my eyes.
This quote is just heart breaking and makes me tear up again reading it now. A beautiful description of how it feels when someone is taken from you suddenly and before their time.
No one is in a better position to go after what they want in life than you. Do everything in your power to make it happen, no matter what your "it" might be.
Simple, and eloquently put. Nothing else to say really.
For me this is point when you disappear for a long walk, or clean, or garden. or go for a long drive. Anything that exhausts both the body and the mind.
I think there are times in all our lives where we feel there is literally no hope left, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I guess we just need to try and remember that no matter how hard it is to believe it in the moment, it is there, and things will get better.
My Goodreads Review:
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Loved every last page of this book, and not sure I can actually wait too long for book 2, it left me longing for the next instalment. For me it is right up there with The Hunger Games & the Divergent books.
A really unique tale that has you guessing from day one, set in a world where the "cold" is controlled by the "elite chosen ones".
The characters are all amazing, and it is so well written I could see their lives playing out in my head as I was reading with no trouble at all.
How would you cope in a world were you were constantly expected to act "unworthy".
This is a MUST READ, just an incredibly unique and gorgeous story...give me more immediately!
