What I Learned - Chasing the Sun with Henry by Gary Brockwell
A gorgeously crafted read about love, answers and the happiness we all deserve.
What I Learned:
I, of all people, have learned this during the course of this year - do everything you can to take care of your health, because when it's not what it should be it is hard. Really hard.
It doesn't get much better than a beautiful place and great company. Sometimes that is all you need to make life even just a little bit better.
Always try to seek out that change that you need to make your life that little bit more incredible and that little bit more amazing.
One without the other never works. Isn't this what we all want? A true partnership? A relationship where you are both on the same page, and when you're not you can talk things through without fear of repercussion or reprisals. A rare thing indeed.
This says it so well there isn't really anything else to say.
This is just a simply gorgeous description of grief. Just beautiful.
Such an important thing to try to remember when times are tough and things aren't going the way you planned.
If only we could see ourselves how others see us sometimes. Confidence is as fragile as health - and just as hard to get back when it goes.
My Goodreads Review:
Chasing the Sun with Henry by Gary BrockwellMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I went into this book blind and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has left me thinking about our need to know somethings and our need to really not know others...not sure if this was the intention.
The theme of this book is that we all deserve to be happy, and to do everything in our power to try and help ensure the happiness of those around about us, but when does that obligation begin and end...and where does the happiness of others sit with our own happiness.
The more I've thought about this book the more I see. The characters are all so cleverly written, and the way the theme's re-occur and manifest in their own lives is really well done.
This book did leave me with some unanswered questions at the end. But I think that is the point. Do we really need to have all of the answers all of the time?
I think this story will stay with me for a long time, and I thoroughly recommend it to others.
