What I Learned - The Surrogate by Louise Jensen
A spine chilling twister of a tale with an ending I will guarantee you won't see coming, no matter how many times you think you've worked it out!
What I Learned:
There's definitely nothing wrong with this - in fact is it not essential to try and maintain a happy, healthy life?
Love and laughter are the best sort of parenting for any kid - the rest are incidentals!
It's one of the worst feelings in the world to have been completely taken in by the person you think you are closest to in the world. I'm not even sure it is because we believe what we want to see, I think it's because we want to trust them so we want to believe they are being honest with us, because, usually, we are 100% honest with them about everything - and sometimes that's the only other person in the world you are allowing yourself to be 100% YOU with. And that's why it hurts!
Time doesn't heal - we get tougher...
This quote gives me goosebumps. I think that's why a lot of women stay, because they believe the man they knew is still in there. I have come to believe that the "man they knew", the man they fell in love with, was an amazing act to begin with and people only reveal their true colours. Call me a cynic!
Great description of motherhood - it just comes over you in a big rush! Unlike anything else you will ever experience!
I think this is a little bit true. We are never the people we were before when something happens that breaks our heart. We are forever changed, even if just a little bit.
I love this quote from the author...I think this is why I haven't put pen to paper yet - the story has got to be amazing!
Goodreads Review
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Spine-tingling chilling right from the first page!
I thought I knew what was coming but I couldn't have been more wrong!
This book left me emotionally wrung out - incredibly twisting plot! Had me so gripped I couldn't sleep. Kat wears her heart on her sleeve right from the beginning, and I fell in love with her, my heart went out to her and I was routing for her right from the get-go! As for her husband, and her friends, I wasn't trusting any of them an inch!
This is so cleverly written the way it jumps between "now" and "then" revealing just enough back story to have you "making sense" of the present day - or does it?
This book will stay with me for a long, long time!
