What I Learned - Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
I picked up this book not really sure what to expect and absolutely loved it! The theme is a much written one, but this is brilliantly executed - even more so when you consider that Alexandra Adornetto was just 18 when this book was published! Amazing, and, hands up, I am a little bit in awe of such a young talent!
What I learned:
...this is really true, but we need to try every to do the best to express how we feel, particularly about the people we hold close, using the words available to us. Don't ever fail to try!
I hadn't thought about this before until I read this passage, and I completely agree...it is utterly ridiculous that we use the same word to describe so many things in our life meaning it looses it's importance...wow!
I hadn't thought about this before either. It's amazing that such a young author has such an insight! Ironic and true!
this is well worth thinking about...why are you standing on the sidelines watching when you could be in the centre of things, doing something that matters and really making a difference.
have always believed that music has the power to change the world...there is an amazing company called In Music We Trust who believe that music can help you get through whatever it is you are going through in life...please take 2 minutes to click on their link and find out more about them - the video is inspiring.
...and sometimes the antithesis of what you think you are looking for can balance out some of your personality and make you the perfect team for taking on the world!
I think this is a good attitude to have even if you are not an angel come down to earth and immortal :-) Every moment you spend with the people you care about is an opportunity to make memories...precious one's that could sustain you into your old age, after all none of us ever really know what is around the corner.
I have a few precious people like this in my life...and it doesn't matter how much time passes between seeing them it still feels exactly the same. These people are special. Hold onto them!
Never be scared of what "might" happen. Just go for it - I guarantee you are strong enough to deal with ANYTHING that comes your way!
I have had this conversation often in the past few months. So I know a guy (who will remain anonymous) who manages a busy restaurant and it always amazes him the amount of people, families & couples, who come out for dinner and then spend the entire time on their mobile phones! What a waste of what could be a time to really talk to each other about anything and everything. Life is so hectic and hundred miles an hour that it's good to take that time out from technology and focus on what really matter in life.
Actions always speak louder than words - remember that!
WOW!!! There are wedding vows in the making right there! This, right here, is what I want for my gorgeous daughter (I have reached the stage in my life where I think all hope is lost for me!!!!). If he doesn't think she is is whole world, then he doesn't deserve her!
...just beautiful
How poignant is this, especially with everything that is going on in the world. With all the talk of Brexit & Donald Trump I think this is something the world needs a hefty reminder of.
So this is written with reference to the love of her life, but I think this is what every parent wants for their child...for them to have the complete and utter belief and confidence that they can do and be ANYTHING!!!
I can't wait to read the second part of this trilogy - hopefully it is winging its way to me as we speak!
