What I Learned - Dancing in a Distant Place by Isla Dewar
It's no secret but I love Isla Dewar and absolutely devour anything that comes my way by this fabulous lady - and a fellow Scot to an extra special affinity!
What a brilliant story - I loved Iris right from the get-go. Life deals her one hell of a blow that leaves her questioning everything she thought she knew, and with 2 teenagers to boot! She does exactly what I would have done, goes to the remotes of Scotland to restart a life where no one knows her - a woman after my own heart!
What I learned:
I absolutely believe this. Always look for that special in people - I guarantee when you start looking you will find it - no matter how carefully they try to hide it away.
I see these kids more often that I would care to admit - I sort of think these are the kids who don't know how special they are - they maybe just aren't reminded everyday how unique and special they are, and their uniqueness should be embraced as that is what will make them shine...a spot on observation!
These people are by far my favourite people...in my experience they are few and far between and should be cherished. Some of the best days and night of my life have been with these people, sitting up to the wee small hours and talking about anything and everything
Always, always, always give anyone you can ideas above their station, and encourage those ideas, and nourish all that potential...life is far too short and precious not to!
