The Road to Skye Day 3 Part 1
Woohoo the rain stopped after literally battering the van all night...there were even some glimpses of blue skies, so we took the opportunity to have a really good wander down to the harbour at Dunvegan...I will warn you now that this post is very picture heavy - there was so much to see!
Starting with "oor wee Evie" parked up in her lay-by...
The gorgeous little St Kilda Shop & Gallery is on the road down to the harbour...unfortunately we were there super early in the morning and it was closed, but I had a nosy through the window and it looks gorgeous. Will definitely be paying a return visit.

How gorgeous is this gate into the woods...there's something a little bit "Once Upon a Time" about it...

Random rustiness down in the harbour...
This is most definitely a working harbour - and here is the Shellfish lorry to prove it...this made me smile for some reason, but then again it was really early in the morning !!
We timed it just right and saw these beauties being pulled in from the sea...at this point Daisy was absolutely mortified with me because I went and asked the fishermen what they were, and if I could take pictures before they reached their final destination. They are bits of Salmon farms, and I just thought there was something really pretty and interesting about them...fair to say I think the fisherman thought I was a wee bit mad, but that's not something I've ever seen before in my life, and I probably won't again!
It's also not often you see such new looking lobster pots...
And lots of interesting wee old weather beaten buildings...
and a slightly weather beaten daughter too...
Those of you who know me know it wouldn't be a trip to the harbour without lots of pictures of boats, water and moody skies...I'm nothing if not predictable!!
I guess it wouldn't be a proper Scottish working harbour without a wee "spot the Irn-Bru" moment...
I love the combination of water, sky, forest and general green lushness on Skye, and all so close together...I think this is something pretty unique to Scotland. Lots of trees and greenery on the walk back up to van.
There seemed to be an abundance of raspberries everywhere we went...
and, of course, my gorgeous girl taking pictures for her blog over at Rionnagan...
