Excited to show you these gorgeous hammock style chairs from Hamanica
These beautiful hammocks have been on my wish list for a while, and I was excited to find out they are made by a collection of of artisans and craftsmen working in Masaya, Nicaragua...my daughter is heading out there next year!!!
The main people involved at Hamanica are Mrs. Maribel Hernandez, her daughter Miss. Kennia Hernandez, Mr Javier Sanchez and Mr. Roberto Alvarado.
Nicaraguan hammocks, unlike Mexican or Mayan hammocks, have three or four parts: the net or body of the hammocks, the arms, the fringes and also the wooden sticks.
Most of the times Javier and Kennia design the net of the hammock, the body is hand made embroidery using "bastidores", they are special frames to hold the threads, and with knitting needles they create the woven net. Maribel and Roberto also design the fringes, some of them use a crochet design.
Hamanica offer customisation of any of our products because they are made to order in their Nicaraguan workshop.
